An unfortunate finalist last season in the BM League, Nice has succeeded in its challenge by reaching the final once again. However, there is still one last step: defeating Maxรฉville-Nancy this Saturday starting at 3 p.m. to reach the elite!
Defeated last year in the BM League final, Nice started its 2014-2015 campaign with the firm intention of returning to the elite they left in 2011.
Although they were not always dominant during the regular season, which they completed with 16 wins and 10 losses, Mladen Kasic’s men showed enough consistency to finish in fourth place, allowing them to meet Alรจs, the fifth-place team, in the quarter-finals.
Victorious in two games (3-0 at home and 2-3 in Gard), the NVB had a rendezvous with the regular season leaders Poitiers, already secured promotion, in the semifinals.
After an inaugural away loss (3-2), the Azurรฉens managed to respond at home (3-1), before proceeding to win the deciding match on Saturday evening in Poitiers (1-3). They will now face Maxรฉville-Nancy in the final at the Halle Carpentier.
Having defeated the Lorraine team in the quarter-finals last season, Nice will once again rely on Serbian Aleksandar Mitrovic, the club’s top scorer this season with 415 points so far, to hopefully go all the way this time.
Stay tuned for the outcome later in the afternoon!
