An unexpected performance (and result) because, after an exceptional regular season, the Montpelliers enjoyed a return to the playoffs from which they had been absent since the 2010-2011 season.
The proof? Their Chaban-Delmas stadium was packed, with nearly 3,000 spectators. But this atmosphere unfortunately did not suffice to lead the locals to victory, as the Niçois, with a remarkable performance, created a huge sensation by winning 3-0.
Montpellier is now up against the wall and must win tonight to hope to earn the right to play a deciding match next Friday at Chaban-Delmas.
