While waiting for the Tour de France, cycling enthusiasts can “warm up” with the Tour de la Métropole, which will take place on the roads of the Nice hinterland from this Sunday, the 23rd until Saturday, the 29th. The 100 riders participating will thus discover the exceptional tourist potential of the metropolitan highlands.
This event is part of the activities of “Nice celebrates the Tour.” On the last stage’s arrival, Saturday, June 29, whose festivities will kick off during the arrival of the last stage in Nice and conclude on the evening of Tuesday, July 2.
This Sunday, June 23, 2013, at the Arboras Stadium in Nice, the 100 cyclists registered for the 1st Tour Nice Métropole will set off from the starting line of the 1st stage, Nice – Berthemont.
The Tour de Nice Métropole remains a cycle tourist event that will nonetheless offer cyclists a timed climb each day.
It will begin with a stage marked out in the Nice hinterland with the ascent of the Col du Turini. Then the riders will cross the border via the Col de la Lombarde for a stage finish in Italy, at the Valdieri Thermes. During their stay, the entire territory of the Mercantour Park will be traversed by the cyclists with a balanced chain of stages, and the mythical ascent of the Col de la Bonette.
