With the presentation of its roster, the men’s team of Olympic Nice Natation has started the 2016/2017 season. After a successful last season, which ended with a victory in the Coupe de la Ligue and a Pro A French Championship final, ONN is entering a new cycle. The club, without lacking ambition, will focus on youth this season.
Last season, Nice surprised everyone by winning the Coupe de la Ligue and reaching the final of the Pro A French Championship against Marseille. Thanks to this impressive performance, Samuel Nardon’s men will compete in the prestigious Champions League.
The ONN coach remains ambitious for the upcoming season, even though he will have to work with a younger and significantly changed group. No fewer than 8 players joined Nice during the offseason, including 4 players from the Cercle des Nageurs de Marseille: Rรฉmi Garsau, Pierre Chandieu, David Caumette, and Sรฉbastien Monneret. On the departure side, 10 players left the Cรดte d’Azur this summer, including top scorer Jure Nastran and Arnaud Jablonki.
Some young talents trained at the club, barely 18 years old, will also be part of the squad. This is the case for Jocelyn Mutambayi, Thรฉo Zuccarini, and Bogdan Cucovic.
So this season, Olympic Nice Natation is embarking on a new cycle with the next Olympic Games in sight. The goal is to help young players gain experience while maintaining ambition and attempting to replicate or even surpass last season’s success.
