Weather: Schools in Alpes-Maritimes will be closed this Friday

Latest News

The prefecture of Alpes-Maritimes has announced the closure of schools in the department for tomorrow, Friday, October 20th. The reason is the red alert “rain-flood” issued by Météo France starting at 3 a.m.

Tomorrow will be disrupted by deteriorated weather conditions. Initially placed under an orange alert, Météo France has revised its weather bulletin. Alpes-Maritimes will be placed under a red alert “rain-flood” from 3 a.m. to 10 a.m. Periods of heavy rain are expected in the Southeast, particularly in our department, with risks of significant flooding. Strong gusts of wind and high waves along the coast are also expected. However, Météo France has maintained its orange alert level for “waves-submersion” for the entire day. The Var will also be closely monitored by experts to better anticipate the risks of flooding.
