You won’t want to be late next December 15th at the Théâtre de l’eau vive to have the chance to attend the unique show of comedian Vincent Piguet, who will present his “Coquinou” for the first time on a stage in Nice. After Lyon, Paris, and Valence, where he is from, and before the Marseille stop, the coquinou comes to meet an Azuréen audience already captivated in Cannes and Monaco last year.
Nice Premium: Vincent, why the coquinou?
Vincent Piguet: No title could reflect or summarize my show because it relies on a surprise effect that catches the viewer off guard. Since I can’t give too much away, I decided to use a term I often use with my loved ones: “Hey, wouldn’t you be a little rascal?” And this childlike aspect fits well with the main character of my show.
NP: After Lyon, Toulouse, Paris, what brings you to Nice?
VP: I come to swim and eat pissaladières. But since I forgot my swimsuit and don’t digest onions well, I will probably end up performing my One Man Show. More seriously, I’ve been asked for a while to come perform on the coast knowing I have a sketch set on the Martinez beach. I’ve already performed in Cannes and Monaco, where my show received a great welcome. I love this region and the audience is really expressive and warm here.
NP: A unique night as a guest, so where, when, and how?
VP: I am indeed doing a showcase, with a view to many more dates in 2011, at the Théâtre de l’eau vive on Wednesday, December 15th at 8:30 PM. A small, cozy 50-seat venue from where the laughter will echo all the way to Corsica (depending on the wind).
NP: For you Nice is…?
VP: The sun, pastis on a terrace, beautiful brunettes on the promenade, Mado in a bikini… La Dolce Vita à la française.
NP: Your usual gigs are mostly in Lyon, Paris, or Chambéry. When will there be more dates on the Côte d’Azur?
VP: That depends entirely on you. I prefer performing in the south than in Paris. I’m originally from Valence in the Drôme, and as a result, I honed my skills on the Lyon stages. Given the success my show is enjoying, I’ve embarked on a tour that started last month with Toulouse and Paris. The month of January will be dedicated to Marseille, and I certainly plan to come and make the Nice audience laugh afterward.
NP: Finally, what should we wish you for next December 15th?
VP: 50 people from Nice standing, their eyes filled with tears of happiness, chanting my name. Numerous coquinettes ripping my shirt. And for your pier to be renamed: “THE RASCAL’S PROMENADE.”
