In his address on July 12, the President of the Republic announced new restrictions that come into effect today.
Starting today, it is mandatory to present a health pass in places gathering more than 50 people, including theaters, performance halls, amusement parks, cinemas, concerts, and museums. This measure will be extended from August 1 and will also apply to bars, cafés, restaurants, swimming pools, gyms, public transport, and shopping centers. The health pass is obtained one week after receiving the second dose of the vaccine. If unvaccinated, it is imperative to provide a negative PCR or antigen test no older than 48 hours.
The last measure, and undoubtedly the most restrictive, is the vaccination obligation, under penalty of serious consequences. For the moment, the bill establishing this obligation is being reviewed in committee at the National Assembly. The final adoption will take place before the end of the month.
In line with these restrictions and to encourage the French to get vaccinated without delay, PCR tests will become paid as of October, except with a medical prescription.
