For many years, the Departmental Council of Alpes-Maritimes has been striving to educate young people about the world around them. This approach is even more important in the current context and will be relevant for their future. The Citizen Passport aims to make them responsible through a variety of activities.
Designed by โyoung departmental advisors,โ the citizen passport is a thirty-page booklet intended for 4th-year middle school students in the department. No fewer than 13,500 passports will be distributed across all the departmentโs middle schools, both public and private.
“This passport will show you that in our society of freedom, which offers many rights, protections, and enables us to live together, we also have duties,” explains Eric Ciotti to the sixty or so students of Don Bosco middle school present.
This is what can be found in this booklet which is organized around several themes: republican values, citizenship, freedom of expression, solidarity, the duty of remembrance, the environment, as well as sports and health. All these themes aim to promote the values of harmonious living together. Thanks to its content, which is both informative and participatory, this booklet should facilitate interaction between the students and the people they encounter daily.
“We invite you with this passport to share your messages and challenges online,” encourages Charles-Ange Ginรฉsy. They will then be able to aspire to the status of a “Citizenship Ambassador,” which will be awarded with a diploma at the end of their middle school studies. A means of communication that appeals to young people and is expected to promote the initiative on a larger scale. It should also help raise awareness among adolescents about the risks associated with the internet.
