Every year, an international day of mobilization is organized to raise public awareness about this condition and improve the lives of those affected and their caregivers. Join us this Wednesday, September 21, 2011, at 2:30 PM at the Music Kiosk in the Jardin Albert 1er.
The city of Nice, in partnership with the Alpes-Maritimes General Council, France Alzheimer 06, the University Hospital Center (CHU), the Nice Communal Centre for Social Action (CCAS), and AMPA, is organizing an afternoon event open to the public from 2 PM to 5 PM:
– Information stands from the city of Nice, the CCAS, and the France Alzheimer 06 Association,
– The Health Info Bus from the General Council,
– Information stands from the Nice CHU about the future Claude Pompidou Institute, the Memory Resources and Research Center, the gerontology center, and balance and posture workshops.
– At 3 PM, a kite release will be organized on the Centenary Beach.
The city of Nice, the Monegasque Association for Research on Alzheimer’s Disease (AMPA), the France Alzheimer 06 Association, and the Speranza-Albert II Center in Monaco have undertaken a joint effort this year to raise public awareness about Alzheimer’s disease through the decoration of kites by children and patients.
As part of a project with the city’s health and early childhood services, several intergenerational workshops took place last July between Alzheimer’s day care participants and children at the Leisure Centers and the Rainettes nursery. The kids and residents painted kites together, which will be released into the Azurean sky tomorrow.
A concert by the Nice firefighters’ brass band will be offered to the public at 3:45 PM at the music kiosk.
