World Bee Day for Flowers

Latest News

This Tuesday, June 20th at 11 am at the Promenade du Paillon

Today, the increasing mortality rate of bee colonies is becoming an alarming issue. As they fall victim to pollution and pesticides, bees have become the symbol of biodiversity and food resource preservation.

The French Observatory of Apidology (OFA), established in 2013, works towards the safeguarding of bees to strengthen the pollination essential for maintaining agricultural production, as well as the training of beekeepers.

To raise public awareness, the OFA has decided to launch an annual โ€œFlowers for Beesโ€ day across France on Tuesday, June 20th.

100,000 ambassadors will plant 100,000 packets of nectar-rich flower seeds, each covering 10 square meters of flowering meadows, amounting to the equivalent of a floral ribbon 1,000 km long and 1 meter wide, crossing France from North to South, to provide nectar resources for the bees.

A hundred children from the CM1 and CM2 classes (ร‰cole du Chรขteau, ร‰cole Ronchese, ร‰cole Nikaรฏa, ร‰cole Rothschild Mixte 2) will participate throughout the morning in various educational and playful stands on the theme of bees. Each child will leave with an educational booklet.
