The Alpes-Maritimes department is placed under a yellow alert for “storm surges” and “storms” this Friday, March 21, 2025. Météo France warns of weather conditions that could pose a danger to the population and coastal infrastructure.
To prevent any risks, the Nice municipality will implement temporary closures. Christian Estrosi, announced the closure, starting at 6 a.m. Friday morning, of the Nice beaches, coastal path, and all parks, gardens, and cemeteries.
Municipal services on alert
The teams from the city and the Metropolis are mobilized to monitor the situation and intervene if necessary. The aim is to ensure the safety of residents and visitors by limiting access to areas exposed to bad weather.
Météo France also forecasts wind gusts reaching up to 85 km/h from 8 a.m. this Friday, March 21, increasing the risk of falling objects and damage.
Authorities remind the population of safety instructions: do not go to sea, stay away from coasts and estuaries, stay informed, and prepare an emergency kit. It is also recommended to monitor rising water levels and protect property exposed to flooding.
These preventive measures will be lifted as soon as weather conditions permit. In the meantime, vigilance remains necessary.
