The Nice Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Christian Gaubert, will perform some of the most famous compositions by Francis Lai for about 1 hour and 30 minutes, some of which will be illustrated with film excerpts.

The evening will conclude with the unforgettable “A Man and A Woman” sung by Karine Michel.

Francis Lai mainly composed original soundtracks for Claude Lelouch’s films. He won the Oscar for Best Original Score in 1970 for “Love Story” and was nominated in the same category four years earlier for “A Man and A Woman” (1966).

He also wrote numerous pieces for Édith Piaf, Mireille Mathieu, Isabelle Aubret, Philippe Léotard, Petula Clark, Nicole Croisille, Dalida, and Jacqueline Dulac, as well as for several Quebec singers including Nicole Martin, Fabienne Thibeault, Ginette Reno, and Martine Chevrier.

The career of this French film music composer has been marked by international successes over the past decades.
