She has always been singing. Nicky Nicolai is the beautiful Roman with brown hair who participated in the Italian Music Festival. Despite her defeat, she was comfortably settled in a hotel in Sanremo on the closing day of this event. A bit under the weather, but with a smile on her face, Nicky Nicolai agreed to meet with Nice Première.
Nice-Première: Do you speak French?
No.
NP: You were selected for the Sanremo Festival. What does this participation mean to you?
It’s a showcase to get my songs heard.
NP: How did you prepare?
Very quickly because I had to record my album. As a result, I didn’t think much about anything else. Then, once I got to the Sanremo Festival, I just went for it.
NP: The host of this event was Giorgio Panariello, a famous Italian comedian. What do you think of him?
Giorgio Panariello is really very nice.
NP: Could you share an anecdote that stood out to you during this event?
There wasn’t any particular moment. I felt emotional from start to finish.
NP: During the festival, you sang “Lei ha la notte” (By clicking on the photo on the side, you can listen to a snippet of this song). Why this choice?
“Lei ha la notte” is a song that I find really beautiful, and the lyrics are powerful.
NP: Now that the Sanremo Festival is over, what are your plans?
I plan to do concerts in Italy. But also across Europe.
NP: You’ve just released a new album. Could you tell us about it?
The album is titled “Altalena” (swing). Love, life, and sometimes a critical sense of things are the themes I’ve highlighted. Actually, emotions play a significant role in this album.
NP: Would you come back for the 57th Sanremo Festival?
I even plan to settle here this year to wait for the Sanremo Festival of 2007. (Laughs)
NP: To help our web users get to know you better, could you quickly describe yourself?
A bit silly, a bit ugly! (Laughs!!!) Definitely sincere in my album. I am nice, surely. And professionally, I think I am determined… even though it took me some time to become so! I am quite wise.
NP: What is your main flaw?
I don’t have any! (Laughs!!!) Well, I admit… A bit lazy.
NP: Do you know the French Riviera?
I have very dear friends in Nice. I know it’s a very beautiful place with great openness. A chic area too! But I’ve never been there unfortunately. I hope to go soon. I have even planned to sing in Monte-Carlo this summer.
NP: Could you say a word in French to the Nice Première internet users?
