Being a Senior in Nice Today
Nice has 99,861 seniors over the age of 60, representing nearly 30% of the total population.
Of these 99,861 seniors, 44,837 are women and 55,024 are men (Sources: INSEE, Conseil Gรฉnรฉral 06, City of Nice).
For comparison, Marseille has 25% of its population aged over 60, Toulouse 17% and the national average is 21.8% (figures from CCASS of Marseille and Toulouse and INSEE 2008).
Today’s seniors are consumers of leisure activities. Retirement is experienced as a new active age and seniors wish to enjoy every moment, participate in numerous activities, and continue to be full citizens.
In light of this, the CCAS of Nice has the duty to provide concrete and tailored responses to these seniors and their needs.
24 disciplines across 9 clubs
Exchange, meet, share new activitiesโฆ
The “new” seniors are much more open to the world than their predecessors. To meet their needs, the CCAS, through its senior animation service, offers multiple activities: 24 sports, cultural, artistic, and leisure disciplines are available to our seniors.
Occasional activities are also organized: excursions, festive activities, hiking, snowshoeing hikesโฆ
For one week, the 9 animation clubs are open to all seniors in Nice, whether club members or not.
