Brazilian, Latin, and world jazz this week at La Note Bleue

Latest News

We’re in for a busy week at La Note Bleue, starting with the fabulous quartet of accordionist Frรฉdรฉric Viale. This generous musician offers a repertoire of original compositions and melodic jazz standards with Latin influences. Thierry Galliano accompanies him, playing the guitar as delicately as lace. The quartet will perform excerpts from their latest album “Lames latines,” set to be released in October 2009 under Imago Production. The members of the quartet are Frรฉdรฉric Viale (accordion), Thierry Galliano (guitar), Nicolas Luchi (bass), and Thomas Galliano (drums).

Following this, the Dona Flor Acoustic Project will present a passionate reinterpretation of beautiful world music songs. This authentic group combines the warmth of acoustic instruments with the energy of four voices singing with delightful dynamism. Together, they break down musical borders through a sophisticated effort of collective arrangement. The group includes Dona Flor (vocals/percussions), Papazita (vocals/guitar), Jean-Louis Ruf Costanzo (mandoloncello), and Jean-Marc Maudet (percussions/choir).

To round off the event with bossa nova, the great Catia Werneck will enchant us with her characteristic energy. Her magnificent Brazilian voice captures the sensitivity of an entire people. For these two evenings of bossa nova, La Note Bleue’s beach will be renamed Copacabana. Performing with her are Catia Werneck (vocals), Vincent Bidal (piano), Christian Pachiaudi (bass), and Luiz Augusto Cavani (drums).
