The Prom’Party consists of six evenings taking place throughout July and August, at the heart of Nice, on the Promenade des Anglais. For this occasion, the promenade is made exclusively accessible to pedestrians, allowing locals and tourists to stroll without hearing a single noise from vehicles, while attending various open-air concerts. Thus, during each of these six events, the Promenade remains closed to traffic from 8 PM to midnight and a half, from the Théâtre de Verdure to the Boulevard Gambetta.
It is 9 PM, and the final sound system setups are being carried out on the four stages stretching from the Théâtre de Verdure to the Negresco. The crowd is already rushing towards the stages, seeking a better view of the bands. The full moon contrasts with the multicolored spotlights illuminating the length of the Promenade. Even though it is night, these lighting effects give the impression of daytime. Couples, families, friends, all have come to the Prom to enjoy the concerts with a spectacular view of the sea. Musically, there is something for everyone: musette at the Théâtre de Verdure, Gypsy tunes near the Palais de la Méditerranée, jazz in front of the Negresco, and for Cuban music lovers, the Mambo Salsa podium on the Avenue des Phocéens. A new attraction was also present, namely the Mus’ en Scène company, featuring six duchesses on stilts. The purpose of this show was to ensure interaction between the podiums.
_Cafés and terraces set up on the Prom_
On the occasion of the Prom party, beachside vendors were allowed to set up along the promenade. An opportunity for them to attract more customers and for visitors to enjoy a drink while listening to good music. And it works, almost all the tables were occupied by customers. Perhaps these temporary practices should occur more often during the summer period.
The Prom’Party and the Musicalia Festival of World Music will animate the Promenade des Anglais until the end of August. Enjoy these unique moments and please your senses!
