Launched in February 2005, the literary contest for middle schools aims to promote a love of reading and writing. Organized in partnership with the Academic Inspection, this contest is open to all middle school students in the Alpes-Maritimes.
The 89 middle schools of the Alpes-Maritimes have been invited to participate in this contest, and most of them have been visited by Mr. Raoul Mille. For this 4th edition, twenty middle schools and nearly 200 students have participated in the competition. This year, writing workshops were organized at the departmental media library of Puget-Thรฉniers, led by writers from the Cรดte d’Azur: Jean Siccardi, Joseph Giudicianni, Olympia Alberti, and at the monastery of Saorge, a place of residence for writers, including Antoine Mouton.
The short stories on the theme “Alpes-Maritimes, Land of Welcome” were submitted to the jury’s decision, which awards three prizes – week-long trips for two people retracing the origins of writing, Hellenic culture, and Roman civilization: 1st prize destination Egypt, 2nd prize destination Greece, 3rd prize destination Rome. A special jury prize, a guided tour of the prehistoric site of the Valley of Wonders, is awarded to the school with the highest participation rate in the contest. A prize will also be awarded to seven young authors.
