Rugby: Nice hosts La Seyne in a decisive derby

Interview with Julien Schramm, Sports Director of RNCA

rugby-nice-13.jpg With 3 wins, as many losses, and a draw, the Var team currently holds the 4th place in the standings, just three points behind third-place Bรฉdarrides. Undoubtedly, the red and blue will come to Nice aiming for victory. On the Nice side, a win would have quite a different objective, as it would allow Christophe Moni’s men to leave the bottom position in the standings they have occupied since the start of the competition. The first leg was a close encounter with the Var team narrowly winning 18 to 6, while it was Nice’s baptism of fire in Federal 1. Since then, penalties have either gone through or missed the posts, and the learning experience at this new level, combined with the experience gained over the matches, will allow the Azurรฉens to face the neighboring Seynois with legitimate ambitions.

To counter the visiting enthusiasm, the Nice team must go on the attack, a weak point for the Azurรฉen squad, which is also last in the standings with only 88 points scored in 7 matches, far behind the 235 points accumulated by the leading Aix team. Fortunately, the kicking game seems to have found its way back through Thibaut Dรฉjardin, who delivered an excellent performance last Sunday, and a “lightened” Rudi Dames who is regaining his sensations from last season. Without a doubt, with solid groundwork, President Baldacchino’s men could finally develop the much-promised gameplay hinted at last Sunday during the first half against Beaurepaire.

Just 4 days left for the Nice team, who would love to spend the Christmas holidays with gifts in the form of a victory against La Seyne and, perhaps, at Beaurepaire where the Azurรฉens will conclude the year on December 16th.
