Categories such as children’s nativity scenes, family nativity scenes, collective nativity scenes, large nativity scenes, mechanized nativity scenes, etc., can thus be created according to the diversity of entries. There are also “out of competition” participations for previous First Prize winners.
The jury, composed of specialists (members of the AFAC, santon makers, Provençal poets, artists, etc.), assesses the entries (descriptions and photos) based on the overall view and the detailed aspects of the nativity scenes.

At the end of the competition, each winner receives a prize (figurines, books, etc.) and an official diploma issued by A.F.A.C.
Participation is free. No visits to home nativity scenes are made to ensure fairness for distant applicants. Last year, around a hundred entries were submitted.
The competition rules are available at all CE.D.A.C locations and at the AFAC.
