In the name of the Young Members of the Democratic Movement of the Alpes-Maritimes, I would like to respond to the announcement of Dr. Hervé Cael’s independent candidacy. Dr. Cael, who is the vice-president of MoDem 06, claims he is ready to work and sit within the UMP departmental majority.
Even though he is a very likable person, I must denounce this “opportunistic” position that seeks only to serve personal interests, and unequivocally reaffirm MoDem’s independence from the two major political forces that share power in France, namely the PS and the UMP.
Furthermore, in light of the controversy surrounding Mr. Cael’s role within the Parc Impérial neighborhood committee, I strongly condemn any attempt to manipulate neighborhood committees, whose autonomy from the political sphere must remain unquestioned.
Therefore, despite Mr. Cael being a member and vice-president of MODEM 06, I will not support him, and I encourage the voters of the 8th canton not to place their trust in him.
