Tunisia must take decisive measures to break away from the Ben Ali regime, which was marked by human rights violations.
Amnesty International is calling on the Tunisian authorities to completely overhaul the country’s judicial system and repressive security services as part of a human rights action plan that must be submitted to the new government.
“Tunisia is at a crossroads,” said Claudio Cordone, Director General of Research and Regional Programs at Amnesty International.
“The people currently in power have an unprecedented opportunity to undertake fundamental, long-term reforms and break with the decades of human rights violations that marked the Ben Ali regime. Tunisians deserve changes that are not superficial but real.”
