Ironman 2010: Marcel Zamora in Nice, the champion is back!

Latest News

Marcel Zamora is the most Niรงoise of Spanish triathletes. On familiar territory by the Baie des Anges, he ignites the crowd at each of his races. His strength? He loves running the Ironman France marathon under a blazing sun, which means in Nice, he is in for a treat every year!

Born in 1978, Marcel has always played sports, but it was towards triathlon that he turned at the age of 18, initially as a game, then as a professional, where he won his first victories (Ironman France Nice in 2006).

Since then, his record has continued to grow: winner in Nice in 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2009, in Monaco (Ironman 70.3) in 2006 and 2007, winner of the Embrunman 2009 and the Barcelona-Maresme 2009 (half distance), he also holds course records in Nice and Embrun.

His path in Nice cannot help but remind of the supremacy of a certain American in the 80s/90s (Mark Allen won the Nice triathlon 10 times); thereโ€™s a magic that happens and intrigues: who can dethrone him?

Marcel will be present at the starting line of the 6th Ironman France on June 27th. Undoubtedly, serious competitors will vie for the Niรงoise title with him this year. Given the names that will soon be announced, the competition will be formidable and especially very strategic; but the four-time winner of the event is determined to continue writing his name in gold in the Baie des Anges recordsโ€”challengers beware!
