SATURDAY, MARCH 5, FROM 3 PM TO 5 PM, BOOKSTORE “AU BROUILLON DE CULTURE” – 23 RUE DE L’HÔTEL DES POSTES
As part of the “Rencontres en Toutes Lettres” contest, the Courrier Côte d’Azur is organizing a writing workshop next Saturday at the Nice bookstore “Au brouillon de culture,” led by the poet and playwright Victor Varjac.
The goal of this workshop is to raise public awareness about letter exchanges and the emotions conveyed through writing and paper.
Attendees of the workshop will be able to participate in the contest and submit their letters during the event.
Presentation of the Contest
Opening, reading, keeping, and re-reading a letter… Such precious moments in our daily lives.
For 84% of the French population, across all generations, receiving a paper letter is more significant than receiving an email or SMS.
That is why La Poste, naturally the messenger of the written word, has decided to celebrate mail and highlight the benefits of this genuine “emotional vector.”
This edition’s theme is “The Encounter” and is titled “Rencontres en toutes lettres.” The contest extends to the departments of Alpes-Maritimes and Var and will run until March 31.
Accessible to the widest audience with 3 categories (general public, high school students, and postal workers), this contest aims to ignite or reignite the passion for writing among the residents of Var and Maralpine. A special “paper culture” prize will reward the letter with the most interesting use of the paper medium.
To achieve this, a dozen events (writing workshops, public readings…) in unique locations will be organized as a journey through the two departments to raise public awareness about the emotions of writing during the contest.

To participate in the “Rencontres en toutes lettres” contest, participants must send a handwritten letter not exceeding 25 lines, in French, on the theme of the encounter to the following postal address between February 15 and March 31, 2011, midnight (postmark as proof). The letter should mention the category “grand public,” “postal workers,” or “high school students”: Rencontres en toutes lettres BP 1002 06001 NICE CEDEX
