Cantonal Elections 2011: The Candidates “For a Left-Wing Alternative” Against the OIN of the Plaine du Var

Latest News

The OIN (Opรฉration dโ€™Intรฉrรชt National) of the Var plain was supposed to put an end to the neglect in the development of the lower Var valley by bringing coherence guaranteed by the State.
However, although we are still waiting for the results of the comprehensive reflection on the development of this area, entrusted to a major Dutch urban planning firm, various unrelated projects are coming to fruition.
After the “Nice Mรฉridia” operation, after the Grand Stadium (whose construction is set to begin in July), it’s the Grand Exhibition Park and the multimodal hub (relocating the MIN to the north of Saint-Laurent du Var) that are being announced with great fanfare by Mr. Estrosi, thinking he’s putting Nice on the same level as… Shanghai!
A great reference for what claims to be an “Eco-valley”!
And all this, while the PPRI (Plan for Flood Risk Prevention), which has only just been submitted for public inquiry, has not yet been definitively adopted.

We clearly say:
โ€“ NO to this supposedly National Interest Operation;
โ€“ NO to the relocation of the MIN without consultation;
โ€“ NO to the implementation of any project without a publicly debated general development plan.
โ€“ YES to a truly ecological development of the Var plain, respectful of the river, the valleys that feed it, the plant and animal species that inhabit it, the water table;
โ€“ YES to the protection of agricultural lands;
โ€“ YES to a genuine public debate on the future of the Var plain.

Florence Ciaravola, candidate “For an Alternative to the Left” in the Nice X canton
Sandrine Bouesnard, candidate “The Alternative to the Left” in the Nice XIV canton
Antonin Tomasso, candidate “For an Alternative to the Left” in the Saint-Laurent du Var/Cagnes east canton
