Call to the Republicans of the 5th District!
Dear Madam, Dear Sir, By placing me at the top of the poll from the first round, you have acknowledged, and I am sincerely touched by this, my work as a local elected official and representative, vigilant but always constructive, of the Department. Because you were angry with the government and its local supporters, you sanctioned the representative of the UMP by preventing her from being present in the second round.
Next Sunday, the situation will be unprecedented in the 5th district since there will be a duel between myself, representing the Radical Left Party, and the National Front. I am among those who, within a major political party and then by creating my own association “Left Otherwise”, have always campaigned for the renewal of stagnant political practices, too often disconnected from the daily social reality. But that battle went in the direction of the republican requirement (refusal of the professionalization of politics, holding multiple offices, promotion of civic education, development of popular education…), never by flattering the less noble instincts because, in terms of demagoguery, while the initial actions are simple, the consequences are often complicated and frequently impossible to reverse.
Thus, today, in the 5th district, the choice for the second round is simple. Son and grandson of deportees, engaged citizen, teacher, local elected official, I have always maintained a certain idea of the Republic – free, open, and fraternal, even though I am aware that to deserve all this, it must also be more equitable. If I remain the representative of the 5th district, I will continue to focus on the concrete implementation of this justice within our neighborhoods and in the General Council, whose main competence is precisely Solidarity. Conversely, what could my opponent do for you, isolated by his speech, without a program and without real solutions?
Therefore, even if our political choices are not always the same, but because you know me well, because you appreciate my values, my pragmatism, and my effectiveness, I have no doubt that by granting me your votes on March 27, you will make the only responsible choice. People of Nice from our dear 5th district, this choice, courageous, free, and serene, will allow me to represent all of you, without any sectarianism, within the departmental assembly. I will continue to deserve your trust there.
