Route de Grenoble – Nice Hemicycle of the General Council
The Nice-based sailor Jean-Pierre Dick, winner of the double-handed round-the-world race “Barcelona World Race” aboard Paprec-Virbac 3, will be received on April 13, 2011, at 5 PM in the hemicycle of the General Council at the Departmental Administrative Center, Route de Grenoble. Many enthusiasts and key figures from the political and maritime world: the president of the general council, maritime authorities, middle and elementary school students, and members of sailing clubs, will welcome him upon his return.
Originally from Nice, trained as a veterinarian and a graduate of HEC’s postgraduate program, this racer has been focusing on ocean racing since 2002.
Leading the race from the start, it took Jean-Pierre Dick and his co-skipper Loïck Peyron 93 days, 22 hours, and 20 minutes at sea to win this race across the oceans.
Having already won the Barcelona World Race in 2008, Jean-Pierre Dick was defending his title. By winning this second edition, he further strengthens his leadership and confirms that he is a great navigator.
A Radiance for the Alpes-Maritimes
This magnificent victory is also that of the Département des Alpes-Maritimes, a privileged partner since 2005 of the Nice-based sailor, whose boat carries the number 06.
