A unit for hospitalization in Addictology at the CHU of Nice has recently been opened at the Archet 2 Hospital. Addictology is the study of physiological and psychological dependence on a substance or behavior.
This discipline allows for the treatment of psychopathologies that lead to dependency relationships (drug addiction, pathological gambling, alcoholism, smoking, but also anorexia, bulimia…) in a common setting.
The hospitalization unit has a capacity of 15 beds, including 6 individual rooms. The care provided over a period of two weeks includes the weekend, depending on the progress and participation in care by the individuals.
Close to 425 patients are treated at the Addictology Center of the CHU by teams composed of: doctors, psychologists, a social worker, a dietician, a secretary, a health manager, nurses, an educational instructor, nursing assistants, and hospital service agents.
They treat:
– Addictions with substances
– Pathologies with somatic and psychological comorbidities
– Neuroses
– Bipolar psychiatry
– Social problems
A wide range of activities such as: sports, balneotherapy, workshops, and activities for fitness (yoga, music therapy, relaxation; essential oils care, support groups; memory workshops, writing, press review…) are an integral part of the treatment. As part of the care, recent information on HIV, alcohol, HCV, tobacco, and cannabis is also provided.
