The SCHOOL OF HEALTH PREVENTION FOR PARENTS has been established today, under the aegis of the Faculty of Medicine of Nice, to educate, inform, and train parents for better prevention of their children’s diseases.
This innovative and unique initiative was conceived and implemented by Jean-Luc HANNOUN, a cardiopulmonary and pediatric physiotherapist, Founding President assisted by his Vice President Florian BRUYERRE, with the support of its patrons, Professor Daniel BENCHIMOL, Dean of the Faculty, and his Vice Dean Professor Gérald QUATREHOMME, with honorary presidency reserved for Professor Marc ALBERTINI.
The sole objective of this educational and preventive structure, created in an associative form, is to actively engage parents by providing them with precise information in the field of prevention.
Parents, often helpless and anxious when faced with an unknown and sometimes sudden pathology, will now be able to better understand their child’s disorders or symptoms while receiving clear responses and solutions to protect them.
The SCHOOL OF HEALTH PREVENTION FOR PARENTS will open to the public during sessions held monthly from November 9th until June at the Faculty of Medicine of Nice, taking the form of conference-debates and practical workshops. The audience, consisting of parents as well as students, will thus benefit from superior quality teaching delivered, based on the topics discussed, by teaching speakers from the Nice University Hospital and Regional Hospital Centers, hospital practitioners, university professors, doctors, nurses, geneticists, pediatricians, and physiotherapists.
The meetings will cover a variety of topics such as basic hygiene measures at home, health education, physiology, asthma studies, tobacco studies, prophylaxis, or even genetic diseases…
“A good healthcare management for our citizens must be comprehensive and conceptualized before the onset of disease to minimize or even eliminate triggering risks. This would prevent the panic regarding an unusual situation that still too often leads to overcrowding in emergency services, which is very costly and can represent several hundred thousand euros for Social Security,” explains Jean-Luc HANNOUN.
A large audience is expected on Tuesday, November 9th, in amphitheater 5 of the Faculty of Medicine. For this first session, the topic is ‘Nutrition and Prevention against Obesity’: “It is not necessary to eat well, but it is necessary to know how to eat well.”
The session will take place from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM and will begin with a welcome speech by the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine of Nice, Professor Daniel BENCHIMOL, also the first Patron of the SCHOOL OF HEALTH PREVENTION FOR PARENTS.
The audience will be able to attend an audiovisual presentation of the concept by its Founding President.
The main topic will be developed by Dr. Gilbert ZEANANDIN, Clinic Head – Nutritional Support Unit at L’Archet Hospital – CHU NICE.
