The Liberté Chérie Nice Côte d’Azur association will present the ECO-POL 2011 Award to Richard Galy, Mayor of Mougins and Regional Councillor for PACA, on Saturday, June 4 at 11:30 a.m., at the Villa “Vaste Horizon” – 18 bd Courteline (entrance to old Mougins, next to the Tourist Office).
Created in 2010, the ECO-POL Award aims to annually reward a political figure from the department distinguished by their good economic and political management.
During its 1st edition, the ECO-POL Award was given last year to Eric Ciotti, President of the General Council of the Alpes-Maritimes, for the budget savings plan of €61M he initiated with his majority within the departmental body.
This year, the ECO-POL jury of Liberté Chérie (composed of economists, business leaders, intellectuals, and public sector executives) decided to honor Richard Galy for successfully carrying out a range of ambitious projects in his municipality, without ever increasing local taxes.
Indeed, there has been no tax increase since Richard Galy’s election in 2001, but rather a substantial investment policy: creation of the first ecological school in the department, participation in the creation of a Medical-Educational Institute, creation of a nursery and a new DOJO each meeting “High Environmental Quality” standards, creation of a new football stadium, creation of internationally significant tourism events, opening of the Eco’Parc, a recreational space for activities and discoveries dedicated to sustainable development, sciences, and culture…
Liberté Chérie is a non-profit 1901 law association, independent, strongly involved in taxpayer defense, advocating throughout the year for lower taxes, a return to the fundamentals of the sovereign State, and sound public finance management.
