Christian Estrosi, Member of Parliament, Mayor of Nice, President of Nice Cรดte dโAzur, and President of the Euromed Cities Network, traveled on Wednesday, June 1st, on an official visit to the Israeli cities of Netanya and Haifa with a delegation from Nice. The delegation included Rudy Salles, Member of Parliament, Deputy Mayor in charge of Tourism and International Relations, Martine Ouaknine, Deputy Mayor in charge of Litigation, Insurance, Public Service Delegation, and Philippe Soussi, Deputy Mayor in charge of the Mediterranean Union.
This official visit was an opportunity to maintain and strengthen the ties between the City of Nice and the Israeli cities of Netanya and Haifa, which share many common points.
During this visit, the Member of Parliament-Mayor met with his counterpart, Ms. Miriam Fierberg-Ikar, Mayor of Netanya, a city twinned with Nice since 1968.
This meeting marks a step of great importance in the development of cooperation, exchange, and friendship relations between the two cities.
During this meeting, numerous areas of cooperation were discussed, particularly in the fields of Francophony, higher education, and youth.
It should be noted that the two cities, which share many common points, plan to inaugurate a large sports complex in the next two years.
The visit to Netanya also included a tour of the Netanya Academic College, sponsored by the City of Nice as part of a cooperation agreement with the University of Nice Sophia Antipolis.
Christian Estrosi then visited the city of Haifa, at the invitation of the University of Haifa.
During this visit, he spoke with the President of the University and departmental heads.
The University of Haifa ranks at the highest global level in terms of technology transfer, and startup creation in cutting-edge fields such as neuroscience, biotechnology, marine sciences, sustainable development, and environment and genomicsโwith diverse partnership and cooperation opportunities in view with laboratories, the University of Nice Sophia Antipolis, and many research centers in Nice.
The Member of Parliament-Mayor of Nice also met with his counterpart, the Mayor of Haifa, Yona Yahav. Haifa has been a member of the Euromed cities network, chaired by Christian Estrosi, since 2010.

At the conclusion of this visit to Israel, Mr. Christian Estrosi was awarded an honorary doctorate degree in recognition of his entire contribution to developing relations between France and Israel in many fields throughout his career.
