The 1st edition of this extraordinary challenge will take place from August 21 to 27, 2011, on a legendary route. Its concept is simple and unprecedented: connect Geneva to Nice by bike, crossing the Alps from north to south through 15 mythical passes, chaining 7 timed stages, 730 km and 17,000 meters of elevation gain in 7 days.
A prestigious start from Geneva and its Jardin Anglais, by Lake Geneva, and a magnificent finish on the Promenade des Anglais in Nice, on the shores of the Mediterranean. Runners from 20 nationalities have already registered.
Solo, Duo, or Team, this new stage cycling sportive will test the best of you, physically and mentally.
It is open to all but reserved for the most determined.
Finishing will be your only victory.
Between Geneva and its Jardin Anglais, by Lake Geneva, and the Promenade des Anglais in Nice, on the shores of the Mediterranean, a few hundred amateurs will compete in a high mountain race, during 7 timed stages of various formats. Of course, classic “line” stages, but also a marathon stage or even an uphill time trial, a great first in the world of cyclo-sport!
Between Geneva and Nice, the 1st edition of the Haute Route will make stops in the prestigious resorts of Megève, Les Arcs, Serre Chevalier, Pra Loup, and Auron.
An opportunity to meet fellow enthusiasts but also to share the adventure with family or friends.

15 mythical passes and ascents
The Haute Route owes its name to its exceptional route through the Alps and legendary passes. There will be 15 on the program of this 1st edition, with an average of 2 to 3 ascents each day.
Each holds a special place in the history of the Alps and the legend of cycling: the Galibier celebrates in 2011 the centenary of the 1st passage of the Tour de France, and the Cime de la Bonette, the highest road in Europe (2802 m), celebrates the 50th anniversary of the road’s inauguration.
Let’s also mention the Colombière, the Madeleine, the Izoard, all references that make sports enthusiasts dream.
