The Transvesubienne returns for its 25th edition.

Since its creation in 1988, the TRANSVESUBIENNEยฎ remains an exception among the long list of international sporting events feared for the excellence it demands. Nearly 1000 competitors will participate in the 2013 edition of the TRANSVESUBIENNEยฎ on May 18 and 19.

transvesubienne.jpg Celebrating its twenty-five years, the 2013 Transvรฉsubienne will take place like last year, with the prologue on Saturday and the main race the next day.

The prologue route, resembling a marathon enduro special, is expected to evolve but will still take place between Colmiane and Saint-Martin-Vรฉsubie. As for Sunday’s course, there are no major changes except some modifications around Levens, the removal of a portage, and the addition of the Colla Bassa loop, which was canceled last year due to bad weather. Finally, the finish will be on the pebble beach, just like in the good old days.

These two days of racing are also an opportunity to enhance the esteem that all these competitors earn in relation to the potential network of trails and Roman roads offered to the mountain biking discipline.

As for the favorites, there are at least three who can claim the top spot: Christoph Sauser (Specialized XC Team) a Swiss athlete emblematic of the national team and a double World Champion in Cross-Country Marathon – the fact that he is participating for the first time in the famous TRANSVESUBIENNEยฎ will be something to consider.

Some figures:

Exact distance: 86 km

Overall circuit elevation: 3300 m

Elevation: D+ 3300 m D- 4800 m

Start at 1495m, finish at 0m (Nice)

The start is in line on routes chosen primarily to ensure a diversity of obstacles and crossings that emphasize the qualities inherent to the discipline, which are strength and endurance, combining skill and improvisational ability while exploiting the technology inherent to mountain bikes, in a context of discovery and trekking in full nature.
