Italian campaign for Patrick Allemand and the Azurean Socialist Party

Latest News

If the political agenda puts the second round of the presidential election first and the legislative elections (June 10-17) to follow, the strategy dictates that we must look further ahead. It is undoubtedly this consideration that led Patrick Allemand to turn away from current events in Nice and the Cรดte d’Azur for a trip to Liguria to meet with local political figures. He was accompanied by Bruno Capaldi, representing the Italian community residing in the consular district of Nice and in the Principality of Monaco, at the General Council of Italians Abroad.

During this trip, an agreement was made with Sergio Scibilia, regional councilor and president of the commission for “attivitร  produttive” of the regional government, for a permanent consultation between the PACA Region and its neighboring counterpart in terms of economic policy and Euro-Regions.

In this context, the ongoing blockage of the Euro-Region PACA, Rhone-Alpes-Liguria, and Piedmont by the will of the regional government president of the latter, the representative of the (anti-European) League Mr. Cota, could direct the PACA and Liguria Regions towards a different solution, namely the creation of a transnational entity with Corsica and Sardinia more focused, even physically, on a Mediterranean policy.

Furthermore, the Socialist Party of Alpes-Maritimes and the PD of the Province of Imperia have plans to establish working groups to consider and work on political topics of common interest and, if possible, undertake joint initiatives.

The Circolo Europa e Cittadinanza (Europe and Citizenship) of Ventimiglia, whose general secretary is Oscar Romagnone, is expected to be the headquarters of this new cross-border think tank, following agreements between Patrick Allemand and Marco Caudano, the local leader of the Democratic Party.

The initiative seems interesting and adds to the protocol agreement between the City of Nice and that of Genoa concerning, in particular, transport policy along the axis between Liguria and the Alpes-Maritimes. This has a more political tone and requires a lot of follow-up. However, according to those who should lead it, the interest is common, and the goal is exciting.

After the removal of physical borders, there is no doubt that even political barriers between neighbors are expected to gradually disappear, and political families to be established “transnationally.”

It is with attention that one must follow initiatives such as these and the actions that will follow.
