The 20th edition of the Raid EDHEC (May 29 – June 2, 2013) has indeed started with the first stage stretching 23 kilometers with over 2,000 meters of positive elevation gain.
After a trail section at the gates of the Mercantour Park, punctuated by an orienteering race in the Boréon Wood, participants were treated to a short mountain biking section for a warm-up. The most daring had the opportunity to push themselves further by going for a bonus checkpoint. The finish of this first stage was in the town of Valdeblore, in the locality of Saint-Dalmas, at the foot of the next day’s climb!
Let’s applaud the performance of Team Lafuma, who completed the course in 4h44’57” (final time after bonuses: 1h39’57”), ahead of Passion Raid Nantes (final time after bonuses: 2h2’38”). Ranked first in the mixed category, the X-Bionic team completed the day’s podium (final time after bonuses: 2h43’47”).
With a challenging course, the second day of the Raid EDHEC 2013 promises to be full of thrills!
