The Nice Côte D’Azur Metropolitan Area received the Bronze Pass from Jean-Pierre Farandou, Chairman of the Management Board of the Keolis Group, during the award ceremony of the City’s Mobility Awards by Rail & Transport.


monier-bronze.jpg This award is among the top three distinctions of the ceremony and recognizes the initiatives undertaken by the Metropolitan Area in public transport.

This award acknowledges the policy that has enabled the offering of better services and offers, which led to an increase in public transportation usage.

Blue bicycles, one-euro tickets, self-service electric cars… The face of the Metropolitan Area in terms of transport is evolving sustainably.

In 2008, one year after the tramway started service, ridership increased by 35%, reaching 54 million annual trips, including 20 million on the tramway. This growth continued, with ridership reaching 66 million annual trips in 2011 and projected to reach 70 million in 2012.

Thanks to the tramway, which transports up to 100,000 passengers a day, car traffic has decreased. To accommodate the growing ridership, eight additional tram sets were put into service at the end of 2010, increasing overall capacity by 35%. Lengthening tram sets, extending line 1 of the tramway, a new West-East line, strengthening its bus network…

Finally, the Metropolitan Area has implemented new services and offers such as the Azur card, a true “orange card,” which allows unlimited travel by bus or coach for 365 euros a year throughout the Alpes-Maritimes and three urban networks (Nice, Antibes, Monaco)…
