Latest News

This Monday, the city of Nice celebrated its athletes. The “Victoires du Sport” event honored 350 individuals who distinguished themselves during the 2013 sports season. However, three categories were particularly highlighted: disabled athletes, women, and men. Here’s a look at the list of winners.

Disabled Sports Category:

There were five nominees: Valérie Chaix, Nathalie Cuny, Clara Perrin, Marie-Noëlle Humberset, and Patrice Barratero. While the latter won, it was Nathalie Cuny (2nd) and Valérie Chaix (3rd) who completed the podium. Valérie Chaix (Association Culture & Sport Adapté 06) is notably the French champion of the 800 meters walk, and Nathalie Cuny (ANICES / ASPTT Nice) was the French champion of the 5000 meters in 2013 and the 10 km in 2012.

As for the grand winner, this title follows another piece of good news as he learned that he had been selected for the Paralympic Games. His reaction: “It’s great to be honored by the city of Nice because I had already been two years ago. This year, it means a lot more since I was also selected for the Olympics. And I’m even happier because, a month ago, I had a bad fall and thought everything was over. I’m really very happy.”

Women’s Category:

The five women who were candidates were Marie-Eve Paget, Charlotte Bonnet, Camille Muffat, Anna Santamans, and Adeline May. While the ONN swimmers dominated this list, they were aptly rewarded as two of them ended up on the podium. Charlotte Bonnet finished third, and Camille Muffat is the grand winner. In between the two swimmers, Adeline May. At 18 years old and a member of the Nice Boxing Team Frank May, she won the European Senior title in 2013.

As for Camille Muffat, she reacted to her trophy: “I’m happy. It’s been several times but every year, it’s brought back to the table. People vote every time, which means they are grateful and proud that I am from Nice. Maybe they are happy that I am the only Olympic champion from Nice (smiles). It’s really nice to be recognized and to know that the Nice public is behind me.”

Men’s Category:

You guessed it, there were also five athletes in the running: Quentin Vernier, Alexy Bosetti, Jérôme Ardissone, Jonathan Pastorino, and Yannick Agnel. On the third step of the podium, Jérôme Ardissone. In addition to being friends with Alexy Bosetti, he is the WKN World Champion in the under 54.9 kg category in 2013. On the second step of the podium, Yannick Agnel. The swimmer, who needs no introduction, was not present at the ceremony as he is training in the United States.

And first, Alexy Bosetti. The OGC Nice football player and U20 World Champion in 2013 said he was “very proud to win this trophy for himself and all his loved ones.” He hopes to return next year with, why not, “the French Cup.”
