With the 2013-2014 season archived, eyes are now on the next one. The Eagles, eliminated in the quarterfinals after a “regular season” where good games alternated with missteps, are looking to be more ambitious?
That’s certainly the hope of a loyal audience who recently showcased their passion for the sport, especially during the U18 World Championships held at the Jean Bouin ice rink last week.
The general manager, Alexandre Duyck, the club’s driving force, is at work, and the transfer waltz can recommence.
On the bright side: The Eagles’ forward, Martin SLOVAK, will stay on the Cรดte d’Azur for an additional season! The Eagles’ No. 71 had a great season under the Nice colors. With 42 points in 29 games, Martin perfectly met the coaches’ expectations.
Moreover, the young defender, Alexis BESSON, will also remain in Nice next season. Alexis was the pleasant surprise of the season, scoring 7 points in 29 games; the work of the Eagles’ No. 34 satisfied the sports staff. Paired with Milan VARGA, the VARGA-BESSON duo worked well throughout the season.
New player-wise, Alexandre TOUCHETTE signs in Nice!
The 24-year-old Canadian forward (178cm, 78kg) has decided to settle on the Cรดte d’Azur next September. Alexandre has played for 3 seasons in the CIS. With 29 points in 26 games this season, Alexandre is his team’s second-leading scorer!
Mathieu OUELETTE also signs in Nice! A teammate of Alexandre TOUCHETTE this season at the University of Ottawa, the two players know each other very well. Mathieu is 25 years old (176cm, 76kg), and this season he recorded 15 points in 25 games. Mathieu played in the Spanish championship in 2010-2011, where he participated in the Continental Cup, finishing as the second-highest scorer.
For Pascal MARGERIT: “These are two players with experience; they’ve played in very interesting championships. We can’t wait to see them on the ice next September!”
In terms of departures, Joakim ARSENAULT, Anthony COURCELLES, and Jรฉrรฉmi JANNETEAU will not be retained in the squad next season. The Eagles’ No. 4 and goalkeeper, Lukas SKRECKO, has also not been renewed.
