From June 5th to 7th, the Nice Book Festival, celebrating its twentieth edition in 2015, gathers book enthusiasts, lovers of reading, all word aficionados in the Old Town.
Novelists, essayists, poets, polemicists, more than 200 writers will attend this edition chaired by Franรงoise Chandernagor of the Acadรฉmie Goncourt*.
In Nice, from one literary year to another, time has passed like a breeze. The Festival has grown. Thanks to it, Nice is now one of the book capitals in France.
Thus literature guides us. From one book to another… Are novels and stories “Lessons of life”? This is the entire theme of the Festival this year.
Signings, debates, meetings, activities, and readings will punctuate these three days of exchanges, discussions, and wonderful discoveries.
Among the anticipated events this year is the meeting, hosted by Franz-Olivier Giesbert, between Michel Onfray and รric Zemmour on the theme: “Can we still debate in France? The clash of ideas,” scheduled for Friday at 4 PM at the Opera.
For the 15th anniversary of his passing, the Festival pays an enthusiastic tribute to Louis Nucรฉra (born July 17, 1928, he died just 25 km north, in Carros, in 2000, hit by a reckless driver while cycling).
In 2002, his name was given to the magnificent library designed by architects Yves Bayard and Francis Chapus in collaboration with sculptor Sacha Sosno (credited with “La Tรชte Carrรฉe,” the worldโs first inhabited sculpture within the building), and then in 2005 to a middle school in “his” eastern neighborhoods. For the 15th anniversary of his passing, the Festival pays him an enthusiastic tribute.
