People, the monumental work by the Nice artist Stéphane Cipre at Nice Airport

The Cannes Festival honored Stéphane Cipre by choosing to unveil his latest steel letter sculpture, 7th art, on a beach at the Croisette. This is a new work by the internationally renowned Nice artist, Stéphane Cipre, which has just been installed at Nice Airport.

The monumental sculpture “People,” standing at 4.50 meters, complements the works already displayed since May 2014 in the business aviation terminals of the platforms in Nice, Cannes Mandelieu, as it was the case in Saint-Tropez.

The three sculptures Dog, Art Palette, and I have a dream already piqued the curiosity of business aviation passengers. Now, at the heart of Nice Airport, in the entrance hall of Terminal 2, passengers in commercial aviation can discover the latest creation by the artist.

In resonance with the airport and its flow of passengers, the aluminum sculpture People represents an amalgam of people, with the word “people” gradually dissolving in the form of layers, eventually transforming into silhouettes.

The flow of passengers, mirroring itself, another reflection of the artist’s work, and a production faithful to his journey, offering a new invitation to travel. With words and their meaning?

Dominique Thillaud, Chairman of the Executive Board of the Aéroports de la Côte d’Azur Group, comments, “I am proud to welcome within the vast hall of the expansive Terminal 2 the iconic work of an artist anchored in our territory, whose fame far exceeds our borders.”

Stéphane Cipre states, “For an artist, having such visibility on an international platform is a great opportunity, with an added touch of attachment since it is ‘our’ airport.”
