The final draw took place this Tuesday at the Engie Open de Cagnes-sur-Mer Alpes-Maritimes. Three French women qualified for the second round: Pauline Parmentier, Amandine Hesse, and Virginie Razzano. However, it is over for Irina Ramialison, Manon Arcangioli, Mathilde Johansson, Fiona Ferro, and Anaรฏs Van Cauter.
The three qualified French players all won their first-round matches without too much difficulty. Early in the day, Virginie Razzano easily defeated German qualifier Tamara Korpatsch (6-0, 6-2).
Against her compatriot Fiona Ferro, Amandine Hesse also showed no signs of wavering, winning in straight sets (6-4, 6-3).
Pauline Parmentier, who is currently riding an interesting momentum, convincingly defeated Serbia’s Ivana Jorovic, the world’s 150th-ranked player, in two straight sets (6-1, 6-2).
In other matches, Russian Elizaveta Kulichkova, the world’s 114th-ranked player, was the only seed to fall in the first round.
