Morcheeba captivates the Théâtre de Verdure.

Latest News

Hazed by stage effects and a crowd demanding “more cheeba” (more weed), clouds float above heads for this hypnotic concert.

After hosting Ninety’s Story and Cats on Trees on its stage, the Théâtre de Verdure applauds the arrival of its headliner who reunited with her original lineup: Skye Edwards on vocals and the Godfrey brothers, accompanied this evening by musicians to provide bass, drums, keyboard, and of course guitar, affirming the instrumental side of Morcheeba‘s latest album, “Head Up High“.

Fans from the early days as well as newcomers warmly welcome the unmatched voice of Miss Edwards, who gives us a remake of Marylin in a much more modern version: a white dress with a coconut chip effect and a fan underneath that lifts only that multitude of translucent fabric drops, not the entire skirt that must weigh its worth.
A true little sweet candy who smiles nonstop, with 2cm long lashes and prominent cheekbones, like a tanned angel who comes to deliver a message from the heavens. However, a detail tips the balance towards rock & trash & “I got you good”: the white bone-effect pearls around the neck that are actually small skulls connected to each other, to hold a new silver skull pendant.

Something is happening on stage tonight, the band is filled with a palpable energy, the stars in the sky naturally add to the simplistic décor to make way for the music. Ross Godfrey teases his guitar, or rather his guitars, kicking off the show with a well-worn Fender Jaguar, then on an electric banjo as fun as possible, not forgetting the classic Telecaster to finish on a 4th six-string with frenzied solos. These two characters own the stage. You could say they’re all you see. They even exchange jokes on the mics with their audience.

The sound is good, the crowd just slightly more spaced than the night before when Simple Minds filled the venue, another great success for this 5th edition of Crazy Week!!! which puts a serene smile on the lips of the big boss, Patrice Bouchon, and his team on edge.
And between the group’s hits and new compositions, we’ll be surprised to hear a cover of David Bowie‘s ” Let’s Dance“, a smash hit!

The festival is taking a break tonight, and we’ll see you tomorrow to applaud HVN, FFF, and Skip The Use (for the second time).

See the report of their appearance in 2012 at Crazy Week!!!
