The humid heat of this midsummer afternoon did not discourage the representatives of the Gay community from marching to the sound of diverse and varied music to celebrate their gathering and advocacy event.
The organizers estimated the attendance at nearly 10,000 people, a stable figure compared to last year’s edition.
A very well-organized event, with a limited number of floats to reduce commercial impact (for the record, Nice has 80 various businesses labeled as “gay-friendly”), a few peculiar characters… but with a lot of pride and courage (here and there, some unfriendly comments were heard, as well as a few minor provocations).
But no one could prevent the demonstrators from conveying the message: we are normal people. Why prevent us from being so?
A long journey has been made, but there is still much road ahead.
