Handball: False start for Nice, beaten by Fleury 28-21

Latest News

For the first day of the LFH championship, the Nice team welcomed the 2015 French Champions, Fleury-Loiret Handball, this Friday, August 28th.

The match left little room for doubt regarding the outcome, although the Nice team surprised us more than once last season. However, Sébastien Gardillou’s squad was significantly weakened this evening by the absence of Cléopâtre Darleux, Alexandra Lacrabère, Samira Rocha, and Dienaba Sy, all injured. The absence of the Icelandic international and new recruit Arna Palsdottir was also felt.

Nevertheless, the Nice team made their opponents doubt at the beginning of the match, with a score of 4-4 by the 12th minute. But the reigning French Champions didn’t let themselves be overtaken and started the offensive, leading by a score of 8-13 at halftime.

However, OGC Nice, known for its fighting spirit, didn’t give up and kept close during the second half, losing by only 2 goals.

A final score of 21-28, which came as no surprise, highlighted the two new professional recruits and best scorers for Nice in this match: Agnes Hornyak and Ehsan Abdelmalek.

For the second day of the championship, OGC Nice will travel to Dijon on September 4th at 8:00 PM.
