However, once again, one could say that the important thing was to participate in a beautiful day of sport and conviviality, and we will leave the day’s winners to the memory of the honor roll to speak of an event which, after celebrating its 18th year and thus its coming of age last year, has established a foundation that makes it increasingly appealing.
The numbers support our analysis: 600 volunteers for more than 6,000 participants, some fine-tuned for competition but most present just for the sheer pleasure of being there.
With this great spirit, the races (there were four different ones) were characterized primarily by a festive nature.
The orchestration by Azur Sport Organisation rose to the challenge despite the complexity of the event, with a very large and participative audience. Only one flaw to report finally: the presence of a few motorcycles and cars in the organizational setup. For a city like Nice that aims to be exemplary in eco-citizenship, why not use electric cars, e-bikes, and Segways as alternative means of transportation?
To highlight the performances of our local politicians: Deputy Lionnel Lucca covered the 10 kilometers in 35’40” and the Minister and Mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi, a regular at these races, completed the 21 km in 1h53’58”.
But once again, it was above all a beautiful day of sport, and we will conclude our commentary by referring to the event’s slogan: The Nice Semi-Marathon 2010, I was there!
