Final stretch before the Alpes-Maritimes marathon

Latest News

Eric Ciotti, Member of Parliament and President of the Alpes-Maritimes General Council, Pascal Thiriot, President of Azur Sport Organisation, David Lisnard, Mayor of Cannes, and Dominique Chauvelier, three-time French marathon champion, presented the 7th edition of the Nice-Cannes marathon.

On Sunday, November 9th, running enthusiasts will be celebrated with the 7th marathon of the Alpes-Maritimes Nice-Cannes. From the Promenade des Anglais to the Croisette, passing by the Marina Baie des Anges of Villeneuve-Loubet and the Cap d’Antibes, the 13,000 runners from 62 different countries will have the chance to run in a most magnificent setting.

For this new edition, the organizers have done everything to offer “joy to the participants, the volunteers, and the spectators.” Growing in importance over the years, the race will once again bring together a high-quality field, with the presence of some of the best African runners. Without a doubt, they will do everything to break the record set in 2011 by Kenyan Lukas Kanda, who completed the 42.195 kilometers between Nice and Cannes in 2h08min40sec.

Beyond the sporting aspect, this event has a real economic impact. As the second-largest marathon in France in terms of participants (behind the Paris marathon) and receiving extensive media coverage, this race is a remarkable showcase for the Alpes-Maritimes department. For the Mayor of Cannes, David Lisnard, this marathon “must be a unifying moment and a tool for promoting the Cรดte d’Azur destination, which should generate significant economic benefits.”
