The mistake has been corrected. Absent from the first draft of the new European Commission, sport has regained its place.


europe_drapeau-6.jpg At the request of Jean-Claude Juncker, its president, the portfolio of Hungarian Tibor Navracsics has been modified to include a sporting component. The European Commissioner is now in charge of Education, Culture, Youth, and Sports.

A decision met with great satisfaction.

Sport today represents 3.7% of the European GDP, employs 15 million people, and proves to be an essential element of social cohesion, public health, and economic growth.
