As we presumed in our article yesterday, unanimity is no longer present in the Maralpin Socialist Party. It only took Patrick Allemand leaving his position as Departmental Secretary for the differences in political lines to surface. Moreover, perhaps this is the motivation behind the local leader’s departure six months before the national congress.
In fact, the two internal political lines within the party are clearly displayed: Reformists on one side and Orthodox on the other, clashing openly. Their analyses and approaches, their angles of attack, and methods are increasingly different.
At the core, the real question is this: Is their vision of socialism still the same? We are talking about vision, namely what concrete actions to take to achieve the desired goals. Then, there are suggestions that confuse earth with the moon…
The various “left” sensitivities, represented by local sponsors of motions at the last congress, Arnaud Delcasse, representative of motion 3 (“Maintenant la Gauche”), Camille Bories, representative of motion 4 (“Oser plus loin, plus vite”), David Nakache, motion 1 (representing Arnaud Montebourg in the Alpes-Maritimes), are asking for a collegial leadership instead of electing the new secretary, scheduled for December 3rd.
United in criticism “against the government for implementing a policy contrary to that democratically chosen by the PS”, they announce that “if this isn’t the case, we will offer the Azur socialists the opportunity to choose and we will therefore present an alternative transition candidacy before the next Congress, the moment planned by our statutes to define the national and federal political line of our party”.
They explain and motivate their request: “This transitional leadership will have the main task of collectively preparing for the upcoming deadlines: the departmental elections in March, with the necessity of promoting orientations that favor the emergence of convergences with all left-wing parties, the congress in June, a political moment allowing us to settle our fundamental debates clearly and to appoint our representatives, and the preparation of the regional elections which will take place in December 2015.
But it will also need, and starting right now, on one hand, to initiate the indispensable renovation process which has been so lacking in the federation, and on the other hand, to implement a true territorial reconquest strategy throughout the department.”
We await the response from the Patrick Allemand-Xavier Garcia tandem and then… what an atmosphere!
