2020! STOP FEMICIDES! STOP SEXIST AND SEXUAL VIOLENCE!

Latest News

At the call of the Women’s Rights Collective 06*, a gathering and flashmob will take place this Sunday at 11 AM at Place du Palais de Justice.

2019 bloody year: 149 femicides

Every day, in our country, women are victims of psychological, verbal, medical, physical, or sexual violence. One woman dies every two days, murdered by her partner or ex-partner. These acts of violence are not inevitable.

We demand a world in which violence has no place. Women and children in danger, victims of violence, must be protected, and criminals punished.

We raise the voices of all those who experience multiple forms of violence due to their disability, vulnerability, age, social origin, migrant status, sexual orientation, gender identity, or because they are racialized.

We bring forth the voices of those who can no longer speak. Murdered because they were women, most of these femicides could have been prevented. We will express our anger against the public authorities who turned their backs on them, dismissing their complaints and refusing to hear their calls for help.

During the closure of the Domestic Violence Grenelle, the Prime Minister praised the “breaking of the silence.” Even if the Grenelle allowed discussions about sexist and sexual violence, the Government remained deaf to the demands of defense and support associations!

The measures and the budget announced are not sufficient. In the face of a mobilized society, public policies must follow.

It is naive to believe that without additional resources, we can sustainably reduce violence against women in France!

We demand resources for:

  • associations that sometimes can no longer meet expectations because they are overwhelmed.
  • new accommodation places
  • unclogging the justice system
  • education: essential to prevent violence through promoting equality between women and men.
  • training all reception, health, police, and school personnel, etc.

The government must release at least 1 billion euros to fund public policies against violence.
