In this context, the Metropolis of Nice Cรดte dโAzur launched, in May 2018, a restricted design competition for the redevelopment of the Pont Michel Block to consolidate in one location the services of the cleanliness department and the collection department, along with the 388 agents involved: 175 for the cleanliness department and 213 for the collection department.
The premises will be adapted to the technological evolution of vehicles, the spaces will be optimized, and they will allow for the adaptation of waste treatment to sustainable development challenges (sorting and recycling).
This reflection aligns with the desire to invigorate the activity of several neighborhoods, notably by supporting the development potential offered by the public transport network.
Thus, the operation will establish 3 functions on the “Pont Michel” block: a tramway park-and-ride (370 spaces for public tramway users, which is 100 more than currently available, and 100 spaces for cleanliness/collection services), the services of the cleanliness department, and the services of the collection department.
