A unique museum event in France, designed by and for students, Mars aux Musées takes place in the museums of Nice from March 4 to 28.

The 18th edition of Mars aux Musées will be dedicated to the 7th art, on the occasion of the celebration of the centenary of the legendary studios of La Victorine.

Thus, dance, theater, music, photography, and video will be expressed in the museums, disrupting their quiet ambiance. It’s an opportunity for students and young people to step into a museum, discover a different world, and get involved. No, museums are not austere, at least that’s the image young people have of them.

That’s why the organizers want to break this idea by inviting young people to discover the treasures of a museum. The program was created by master’s students from the University of Nice: Events, Mediation, Cultural Engineering.

The program is rich and varied: the villa Masséna served as the setting for the opening night on Monday, March 4, featuring artistic and theatrical performances, and the following program looks promising.

On Saturday, March 9, the Terra Amata Museum will take you back to prehistoric times, a journey into the past, then on Saturday, March 16, Marc Chagall is discovered in his museum, his universe, all staged with actors, musicians, and various artists.

On Sunday, March 17, we will meet at the Matisse Museum where the theme of activities revolves around light, the key expression of the painter’s art. On that same day, we leave Matisse for the Roman ruins where history will be rewritten, get your pens ready!

On Friday, March 22, the Lascaris Palace comes alive to the sound of the harp. On Monday, March 25 at the Museum of Photography, it’s all about cinema where you will be the author, actor, with a quiz game.

We conclude Mars aux Musées at MAMAC with a closing evening of music and contemporary dance on Thursday, March 28. This event involves all the museums in Nice. Thus, the Anatole Jakovski Museum of Naive Art, even if no event is planned there, also participates in Mars aux Musées.
